Update on Chew The Scene
September 15, 2025
Dear Friends,
We are entering an exciting season for Pacific Arts Movement as we prepare to share hundreds of films with audiences across San Diego. At the same time, like many years, 2025 has brought challenges for nonprofits, arts and culture organizations, and our communities that we continue to navigate. With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision not to host Chew the Scene this year.
We know Chew the Scene has become our signature way to launch the film festival through community and food. While it is not possible this time, we hope to bring it back in the future. This year, we are focusing our energy on what we do best, bringing the world to San Diego through film.
From November 6 to 15, the San Diego Asian Film Festival will return for a full 10-day run with more than 150 films from over 30 countries and in over 30 languages. We will be gathering across six venues throughout San Diego County to celebrate and share in the stories that connect us.
On October 9, we will launch this year’s lineup. We hope you will join us, help share the news, and start making your film festival schedule. This festival continues to be a space for connection, storytelling, and opportunities for much needed dialogue. Our team is resilient and we are excited to share these amazing films with the community and welcome filmmakers to San Diego to celebrate their hard work.
If you believe in the work we do, now is a vital time to stand with us. You can support by:
- Becoming a member of Pacific Arts Movement
- Purchasing an All Fest Pass to experience the full festival
- Consider joining our Sustaining Donor Program to keep Pac Arts strong year round
Thank you for believing in the transformative power of film and for being part of this journey with us.
With gratitude,

Alex Villafuerte
